Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is intended to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an e-mail message can be sent from one email, but to look as being sent from a different one, ordinarily with the objective to fraud the recipient someway. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers worldwide have it. The record includes all of the e-mail servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an address under the domain. When an email is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to verifies the SPF record and when the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the particular domain, the e-mail message will not be forwarded and it will be removed. When you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam emails that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared website hosting account on our end and we handle the e-mail addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service can be found in a separate section where you're able to view which domains are already secured. For the ones that aren't, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection service and configure a number of things at the same time - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The last mentioned choice is the most secure one, but it can be used when we handle the email addresses for your domains and you are not using a different e-mail service provider. The new records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in a message using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is available with all semi-dedicated packages, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use this service easily for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a rather easy to work with interface, which means that you do not have to be proficient in the use of computers in order to secure your e-mail addresses. You'll simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be allowed to send out e-mails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you've picked. As an additional option, we also allow you to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain in question has our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain should be handled here and not by some other company. Thus you'll get even superior control and there will not be any chances for any person to counterfeit your e-mails for malicious intentions.
